“Sophie” is inspired by the stunning painting by Sophie Taeuber-Arp’s (1889 – 1943) "Douze Espaces à plans, bandes angulaires et pavés de cercles" (1939) Kunsthaus Collection.
Sophie Taeuber-Arp is one of the most important artists of the twentieth-century avant-garde and is considered a pioneer of Constructivist art.

Sophie, is a tribute to the influence Kunsthaus Zürich has had on the art scene in Switzerland and around the world. From its humble beginnings in 1787, when a group of artists and art lovers met for friendly discussions and mutual encouragement, Kunsthaus Zürich has gained international recognition since the early 20th century thanks to a combination of permanent exhibitions and a significant art collection.
