Rapturous autumn leaves, the quiet enchantment of fresh snow, a glittering star storm: magic is all around us, if we take the time to notice.

Liz Ross and David Westby, a married art-and-design team, created CoolSnowGlobes to encapsulate exquisite moments like these. Based in Vermont and initially inspired by the glorious seasons of New England, CoolSnowGlobes has grown into the foremost designer and manufacturer of hand-painted, heirloom-quality snow globes in the world. With an archive of more than 150 designs, CoolSnowGlobes appeal to a new generation of enthusiasts as well as the evolving collector market.

An engaging snow globe is much more than flittering flakes. It’s an experience—a tiny world to discover. Liz and David’s passion for detail and storytelling infuses CoolSnowGlobes with the whimsy of the miniature and fairy tale charm. Surprising yet familiar, a new spin on a beloved classic.

Art object, a playful reminder, storm warning of delight, a soothing source of stillness: the secret of CoolSnowGlobes is in the eye of the (be)holder. Chillingly Beautiful.

Available in 3 Styles:

Snowflake

In the 19th century, Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley struggled to capture the fleeting wonder of snowflakes, successfully photographing the first in 1885 using a surface of black velvet. Though the methodology has improved since then, the awe for the snowflake’s exquisiteness remains.

Like those early photographs, our Snowflake suspends the crystalline, geometric perfection of what Bentley called “tiny miracles of beauty.”

Glass globe, Silver Plate Base.

Snowball

Our Snowball is its own zen koan. It is at once fluid and solid; round and rectangular; black and white. It is transparent and opaque; kinetic and static; present, yet absent. The more you meditate on this timeless design, the more its simple beauty reveals.

Glass globe, Piano Black base.

Eclipse

Yin to Snowball’s Yang, the Eclipse globe conjures the infinite depth of the night sky. When shaken, the transparent sphere blacks out as swirling patterns converge and combine. Once your eyes adjust to the darkness, sparkling blues, purples, greens and golds emerge in an endlessly satisfying dance.
