We have some really great new artwork on the walls by local artist Nicholas Tay from his series New Words for Old Desires. The series is a personal exploration of the contemporary Chinese-Canadian immigrant experience with a focus on the visual symbols of national and cultural identity. In this work Nicholas explores iconic Canadian symbols while combining them with techniques inspired by traditional Chinese art.

In store we have four pieces each illustrating the image of a bison using conte on mylar and covered with vinyl.

Originally form Vancouver, Nicholas Tay received his art training at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Since 2004 Nicholas has participated in several group shows throughout Vancouver including shows at BLIM and Ayden Gallery. He now creates his art in his East Vancouver studio located just off Main Street.
